Crop Consultant

In our first career snapshot, Chuck Farr, Mid-South Ag Consultants, talks to students about what it’s like to be a crop consultant.

Chuck has provided production, pest management and many more recommendations to farmers across the Delta for 24 years.

Chuck first began consulting when he worked as an apprentice for a basic manufacturer during summer break while attending the College of Agriculture at the University of Arkansas. A farmer asked 19-year-old Chuck to take a look at his soybean field and tell him what herbicides he should use. This sparked his career in crop consulting.
"If you're in agriculture, you love what you're doing."
Later, Chuck obtained his master’s degree and took over a crop consulting business when the previous owner left to pursue an opportunity to run a family farm.
