Arkansas Soybean Association Announces Seminar

Little Rock, Ark. (January 18, 2016) –The Arkansas Soybean Association has set Tuesday, January 26, 2016 as the date of their Annual  Business Session and Seminar. The informative seminar and business session will be held at the Grand Prairie Center (2709 U.S. 165) in Stuttgart, Arkansas. Registration will begin at 8:15 a.m., program at 9:00 a.m. and will conclude in mid-afternoon. Lunch will be provided by the Arkansas Soybean Promotion Board.

The program will include a report from the Arkansas Soybean Promotion Board and recognition of the Grow for the Green Soybean Yield Challenge winners. Speakers scheduled at this time are Wes Ward, Arkansas Secretary of Agriculture; Greg Cole, President and Chief Executive Officer of AgHeritage Farm Credit Services; West Higginbothom, Chairman, Arkansas Soybean Promotion Board; Tim Roberts, Director of Grain Procurement, Ozark Mountain Poultry; Andrew Ellis, Dow Chemical; Chet Chaney, agronomist for Monsanto, and Kelly Cartwright, Executive Director of the Natural Soybean and Grain Alliance. Topics will cover the relationship between the poultry industry and soybean producers, the latest info on new technologies Enlist & Roundup to Xtend, a look at the current ag economic environment, information on what is the Natural Soybean & Grain Alliance, and an update on the Arkansas Department of Agriculture.

The Soybean Association will hold its Annual Business Session of membership. During this meeting, the winners of the 2015 Grow for the Green Yield Challenge will be recognized along with the newest 100 Bushel Club Members Perry and Charles Galloway from Gregory. The 2016 DuPont Young Leader, Derek Holden from McRae will also be recognized.

Ag business reps will be present to answer your questions. We will also be holding a live auction to raise additional funds for special projects. Auction items, provided by members of the soybean industry, include soybean seed, crop protection chemicals, fish cookers, custom applications, pearls, and many other similar items.

Arkansas President Brad Doyle said recently, “This is a busy time of year for all producers and we have designed our meeting to meet the needs of our membership. We are providing information we feel is important to producers in a day.”
